When I saw this on Pinterest, I knew I had to make a class book out of it.
I must admit, it was a process, and partway through I wished there were only 14 letters in the alphabet. It turned out great though, and the kids love reading it.
In honor of my blog's one year anniversary, find out here what I could make for you if you're a follower and comment on any of my posts this week. I look forward to hearing from you.
Wow! This looks like fun! How long did it take you to have them make all of the letters or did you do one every day when you studied that letter?

Learning and Teaching for Life
Meghan, I did it over a few days but your idea of one a day sounds like a much better plan!
DeleteI did this a few years ago and made it into a book. I called it the ABC's of first grade manners. The kids LOVED it!

Barbara, I've been boo'ed? I'll come see. :)
DeleteTammy, you always have the best ideas for books! This is my favorite so far. (wait I said that to myself about Respectacles.) What would you think if you use our Human Alphabet for sight words? (The easy ones of course.) We might have to stand on a chair to get a picture...mmmm maybe not, just do it as an activity. So cute; thank you!
ReplyDeleteMarie, I was standing on a chair for the letters of this book. You'd definitely need a wide open space for sight words. :)
DeleteI always wanted to do that when I taught preschool but wasn't brave enough. Good for you!

Mandy, it does take some bravery. Thanks for commenting!
DeleteOh Tammy! You are burnin' HOT this week with all these AMAZING tips and ideas! I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the humanistic-photofabulous alphabet book you created! I have been strumming up the HOW-to's on this idea and you just "BAZINGAed" me! Are you going to share and sell this template on TPT? Please let me know! I'll be first in line!

Julie, I'm not a TPTer, so I've nothing to sell but fortunately it's not hard to put together. I'm glad you love the idea!

I love it but trying to decide if I want to jump on the bandwagon or not. I can see how this could take some time. Are you going to make this a yearly thing for your classroom?
ReplyDeleteDanica, I think I'll probably do this every year, but I like the idea of maybe doing one a day. It was a lot to fit into two or three days.
DeleteOMG- I love this. You should come link up to my photo linky :)
ReplyDeleteMiss Nelson, I'm glad you love it. The end product is lots of fun!
DeleteI just thought of something Tammy! We could make copies of the individual letters we made and build words with those letters! The kids could even have a station one day that used those letters to build their word wall words...
ReplyDeletehmmm...gonna have to try it and see what happens!
Marie, that's a very interesting idea! Hmmmm. :)
