A Linky of Goals

I hear that Las Vegas is overtaken with teachers this week.  I am not one of them, and neither is Chrissy from Read Write Sing.  Instead she's doing a linky, and I'm linking up.

Personal Goal: Sing, sing out loud
The oddest thing happens when I'm on vacation from teaching.  I tend to lose my voice a bit, and it's certainly not from overly talking since I live by myself.  It doesn't entirely go away.  It just tightens up and feels strained.  I'd like to get it working at an optimal level though, because next week my cousin and I are heading to the studio to work on a second Christmas CD.

Home Goal: Green green grass of home
It's pretty hot here in Idaho right now, and I have a few spots of grass that are in need of some TLC.  Since for some reason my sprinklers aren't doing the trick, I broke out my hose.  Every morning those spots are getting some extra attention.  I'd like to keep my lawn happy, so I hope this works.

Professional Goal: Gotta keep reading
I've read 14 books this summer but only one has been a professional book.  I've got some great teacher reads in my pile.  Even though I really do want to get to them, I think my challenging year put the breaks on my fervor a bit.  Plus, I've had a craving for fiction.  Regardless, I'll get her done.

Thanks Chrissy for the linky.  Click on the graphic above if you'd like to share your goals too.

  1. Hi Tammy. Great goals! I've started reading some professional books this week--finally. Did pretty good taking a break from school this year. Now I'm getting a bit antsy thinking of all I wanted to accomplish this summer. Time to get crackin'. :-/

    1. Crystal, I'm slowly working my way through Reading in the Wild, but I find myself taking lots of breaks to read my fiction. It's definitely time to get crackin'. :)

  2. 14 books is very impressive! Do you have one in particular you'd recommend? I'm reading a huge one right now by Diana Gabaldon.

    1. I sure loved Gone Girl. The language wasn't enjoyable but the plot was riveting!

  3. Your voice situation certainly seems backwards. Hope it gets better for your singing gig.
This year my grass finally looks decent. I really don't think I had anything to do with it though.
I just broke open my first professional type book Thursday - well, except for my class. So I'm right there with you on that!

    1. Sara, yep it's totally backwards. You'd think I'd lose it from overuse not underuse. Weird!

  4. You have read an outstanding amount of books already this summer! You and your cousin will have so much fun creating a new cd. That is exciting and I can't wait to hear it!

    1. Lori, it's been so wonderful to read and read and read. It's just the kind of summer I needed.

  5. I hope your voice improves as well. Sometimes I think your body just knows when it can take a break. I feel like I've neglected my professional reading too, but I don't have anything right now that I'm really excited about reading. I haven't done the books for next year's student book club--just reading for myself. :)

    1. Miss Trayers, I would really love to read Teach Like a Pirate, but I don't own it yet. I think I could really eat that one up.
