Poetry Greatness

I don't have my own kids to brag about, so I get to brag about my 23 first grade kids.  Today was our first official day of writing poetry, and they blew my mind.  Here are just a few examples.

With the right kind of front loading, modeled writing, and shared writing, kids can show their writing greatness in amazing ways.  (And this is only day one.)

  1. Wow! The Crayon is my favorite...magical stick of a rainbow. AMAZING! I hope I see some greatness this week as we start poetry as well. :-)

    1. Lori, they do amaze me. I told them yesterday that I couldn't even come up with the kinds of things they were writing.

  5. I must admit that you not only encourage kids to show their writing greatness, but you're also able to see that greatness. I would put my hat off to you and your teaching talent (if I were wearing a hat of course) The kids' parents shoud be very greatful to you for what you're doing for their offsprings.
