I loved this series. By the end, I felt emotionally attached to the characters. It took some time to recover from their absence.
This one didn't blow me away, but it wasn't a waste of my time either.
This is an engaging YA book. The young female protagonist is so lovable. Great read!
Donalyn Miller is amazing. Enough said.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book of historical fiction set both in WWII times and in the present. I need to read more from this author.
My best friend asked me to read this. Otherwise I wouldn't have picked it up. It's not my typical read. Even though it's disturbing, it's inspiring as well.
Read on!
My kids have been reading the Divergent series. I haven't tried it yet, maybe I should! And that Chateau of Secrets looks interesting...

Teaching Little Miracles
Crystal, you should definitely read Divergent, and I think you'd really enjoy the Chateau of Secrets too.
DeleteI seriously love YA novels... sometimes they are just SO well written and more enjoyable than Adult Novels. I've been wanting to get going on the Divergent series!

Ashlee, I've been telling myself that I want to read more and more YA. They are great stories. You'll love Divergent.
DeleteDivergent and Counting by 7's are in my pile. I didn't get nearly as far as I had hoped into my pile this summer, but I kind of needed a break from it for a few weeks. Thank you for sharing these titles-always looking for recommendations from people I trust! :)

Miss Trayers, great great choices! You'll have to let me know what you think.
DeleteCounting by 7s...Hmmm...I'll have to try that one. I finished the Divergent series this summer, too. I read 10 books this summer. It was awesome. I'm a big Fannie Flagg person, I love her feel-good kitchy books. I also read The Fault in Our Stars and The Book Thief, among others. My son is starting high school today (yikes) and the school has a group of Moms that are in a book club. I NEVER read fiction during the year, but I'm gonna give it a try so I can meet other moms. Wish me luck with that.
ReplyDeleteAnn, I think you'd enjoy Counting by 7s. You should give it a try. I don't read as much fiction as I'd like during the year, but I want to do a better job of that this year. I hope you absolutely love your book club!
DeleteThanks for the recommendations! I have read 3 professional books over the last month and zero fiction books for my own enjoyment! I am headed out of town on Saturday for a week on the coast and reading 4-5 good books on the beach is at the top of my to do list!

The Math Maniac
Tara, I wish I could come. That sounds like a perfect way to spend a week. Enjoy!
DeleteYou need to get ya a kindle! They are great for traveling! I'll have to count up how many books I read this summer - they were all fiction, none of my professional books got read. Oh, well, it was summer!
ReplyDeleteSara, I have an ipad which I've used once for a book. It's just not the same. I need to turn pages. :)
DeleteSo glad you are enjoying your reading time this summer! Unfortunately, I haven't had as much time to read this summer. I need to do some catching up!

Lori, it's been a wonderful summer of reading. My list of books to read is still long though, so I hope I can continue to get in lots of reading once I'm a tired first grade teacher again.

ReplyDeleteLet me try again. This time with the correct spelling:)
DeleteI enjoyed State of Wonder but my favourite Ann Patchett book is Bel Canto!
Barb, I haven't read the one you mentioned. Ann is a new author for me.
