A Perfect Report Card?

Conferences are this week, so that's about all my brain can think about.  (Well, that and getting myself to bed by 8:00.  I love my sleep.)  Unfortunately, I don't love our report card.  I don't believe it's all that comprehensive.  On the other hand, is there such a thing as a perfect report card?  I've got my doubts.  To help give parents a better view of what their child knows, what I want them to know, and how to get there, which I believe parents really appreciate, I always provide an additional sheet.  Here's a look.  Click on the picture if you'd like to print your own copy.

I understand that using and editing this particular form isn't all that feasible on your computer, but maybe it will inspire the making of your own.

  2. Our first grade teachers don't like their report card either. Thank you for sharing your example! I love that you not only inform parents where the child is and where they should be, but you include a plan of action to get there!

    1. Lori, I'm wondering if there is such a thing as a good first grade report card. (I kind of wish there was a better option altogether.) Anyway, this is more work, but at least parents have a better picture of what's going on.

  3. Miss Delighted and I gripe about our report card every year, and vow to change it every summer. I think the comment section gives the best insight.

    1. Tammy, we've been griping for years...literally. I wish we could change it, but it's out of our hands. :)

  4. Our report card doesn't give the parents any tpy of feedback. This is a great idea!

    1. Kelly, great ideas sometimes take more time to pull off, but I know parents appreciate it. :)

    1. Tamera, I'm not sure I'd like three new report cards in three years. :)

  6. I hate our report cards. We just give grades (which for second graders I feel is totally wrong). What does getting a grade tell the parent of how their child is really doing? Thanks for the resource! It has inpired me to make my own form! I am weird in the respect that I love making forms!

  7. I like the "my wish" part - what a great way to state that. And adding a plan of attack. I think I'll adapt this for my room. Sara
