Great News, Not-So-Great News

Not-so-great news: I'm up to around 28 first graders, and it doesn't look like there's relief in sight. That's a whole lot of little people. This could be an adventure.

Great news: An activity of mine is featured in Scholastic's Instructor Magazine. That almost cancels out the not-so-great news. Almost. :)

Click on the graphic to read the article. It's only two paragraphs.

Cool, huh? I'd love to get my hands on a real live copy. Let me know if you subscribe to this magazine or know where a copy is available.

  1. Read your wonderful idea a couple of days ago. Scholastic sent out a link earlier this week. Simply amazing. I love your idea.
Good Luck with your "huge" class. Wow! I hope you have a terrific year!

  2. Congrats on the article in Instructor! Terrific idea for the beginning of the school year. I am at 24 students and could not image where to place 4 more bodies in the room. You are amazing and those 28 kiddos are so lucky to have you this coming school year. Have a wonderful year!

    1. Kathy, Placing the bodies is going to be an interesting challenge. I'm not sure how we'll fit anywhere very well. I guess we'll be a cozy group this year!

  3. I love your "yes, we can" activity. Just yesterday I had a colleague ask me about it and I steered her toward your blog. Congratulations.

  4. How cool! You're famous! :) I've had pretty big groups the past few years. The hardest part to me is keeping up with everyone and their progress, especially since things like running records have to be done one-on-one. I know you can handle it.

    1. Miss Trayers, You've mentioned one of my biggest worries at this point. Keeping track of them all and moving each one to where they need to be is going to be a big job. Thank you for the vote of confidence. :)

    1. Barb, now if you could move to Idaho and teach across the hall, I would only have around 18. Let's do it!

  7. A big congratulations on being featured in Scholastic!! That is definitely great news. The huge number of students...not so great. But I do know that these students will be blessed to be in your room and you will be able to handle it! :)

    1. Lori, I really do hope I can handle it. I hope that after a while, 28 feels like less than it is. :)
