When someone shows up with a new do, we sing them a little song. Most often the boys are the ones we serenade. Unless a girl tells me she got a haircut or gets a drastic cut, it's not easy to tell. Unfortunately, I don't remember who this idea came from, although I'm guessing it was the creative Dr. Jean. I wish I could show you some faces, but I don't have permission. At least you can see their haircut.

I pride myself on being the kind of teacher who jumps up and down about a lost tooth. They laugh and stand taller. It's lovely. Thanks for the reminder and the support that it's the right way to be!

DeleteWhen I taught first grade, we would sing this song. I do believe it is a Dr. Jean song. We also sang her new shoes song and who lost a tooth song.
ReplyDeleteFirst graders really enjoy these special songs. They feel extra special when everyone sings to them. I just wish I could sing half as good as you!
