In Loving Wisdom

I'm linking up with Deb at Fabulously First today.  She's offering advice to new teachers.  I could probably write a book on the subject, but I've narrowed down my novel to two thoughts.  Enjoy.

Thanks Deb for letting me join the conversation.  We love our new teachers!

    1. New secretaries don't have to know it all on day one either. You'll be GREAT!

  7. That is great advice!! I expected to go into teaching and be perfect. Well that still isn't happening, but like you said just keep focusing on one or two things to improve. :)

    1. Lisa, I'm still trying to be perfect. It's not working. :) But it's something that keeps pushing me to be a better teacher.

  9. "They learn in spite of you" .... so VERY true. I don't know why that makes me feel better :)

    1. Barbara, I still cringe about those first few years, but somehow those kids learned. I'm still coming to know and growing, and my kids are still managing to learn in spite of me. :)

  11. Tammy . . . that was brilliant. Slow down to speed up. So simple, but oh-so true. I still catch myself needing to remember this and it's year six for little old me :). Thanks for sharing your thoughts friend.

  12. Thank you for your wonderful words of wisdom! I will be a first year teacher this year and know that I will need to remember to "slow down to speed up" from time to time. I am a little nervous because a teacher on my team made the comment that "by day two she is running out of things to do" and that it will be time to start working on curriculum. I know that I will not be able to do that by day two, as there are so many community building activities that I want to do in my new classroom. I am nervous as a first year teacher about how to handle this. I don't want to seem like I am taking too much time before I start teaching curriculum, but I also know that in order to effectively reach my students.. I need to have established good procedures and built a community in my classroom. Any advice?
