One Little Word

Resolutions aren't my favorite. Not that I have anything philosophically against them.  It's just that my gym gets a little uncomfortably crowed from January 1st through Valentine's Day (at least).  I thoroughly love the idea I found here from Holly at Crisscross Applesauce in First Grade though.  Instead of a resolution that fades away by Valentine's Day, how about an OLW - One Little Word.

My kids chose OLWs last week.  They decorated them (thank you to Mandy across the hall for letting me steal this decorative idea), I took pictures of each child with their OLW for a classroom book, and we displayed our OLWs in our cubbies so that they wouldn't be easily forgotten.

Here are a few pages from our classroom book that I'm sure kids will be reading often the rest of the year, being reminded of their One Little Word.

  13. Wowza!!! What a fantastic idea for a class book....I lOvE class books. I think you mentioned in another post that you make enough to give them away at the end of the year? I was able to do that one year, when I had a small class of 16. My goal is do that again with a class.

So, Berlin or Amsterdam with my family? I've been to both, but was not in Berlin for very long. I was fascinated by both. I think my sister wants to go to Switzerland now.

Tell me where you've been? The 3 places I've been that I never in a million years thought I would get to is Australia, New Zealand and South Africa.

I gotta find that post where you gave me your email address...this is getting too long!

Can't wait to hear from you!

  14. Yep, we make class books for about every occasion. I've posted about several.

I was only in Amsterdam for a 7 hour layover, but from what I saw, it seemed like a great place to visit. My parents are heading to Switzerland for a tour this summer. I'd love to go to Australia and New Zealand, especially so I could sit in some elementary classrooms for a while.

I've been to Amsterdam, England, all over France several times over (rode my bike for 21 days one summer), Italy several times (Florence, Rome, Naples, Capri, Venice, etc.), Greece (Athens, Mykonos), Turkey (Istanbul, Ephesus), Barcelona. I think that's about it. It kind of gets mushy in my brain. Italy is my favorite though. Love it there.

    Where are you currently?
